A workshop to dive deep into the practice of yoga and meditation guided by the teachings of Katha Upanishad.

Every yoga session on the mat will seek to create a balance between softness and intensity. A practice is soft when it respects our physical condition; it is intense when the many layers of our being are allowed to merge in harmonious balance, awakening what is dormant within us.

In a non-dual approach to asana, pranayama and other tools of yoga, intensity does not correlate with the difficulty of the postures. It is, rather, a listening and observation-based meditative approach that helps us move towards stillness and silence.

Each yoga session leads to and ends in a sitting position for meditation.

During the dialogues sessions we will of go through the wisdom of Katha Upanishad, not as academic study, but as a simple yet deep exploration of how its insights reflect on our lives.

The Upanishads are verbal teachings on the principles of spirituality. Rather than being based on philosophical abstraction, speculation or dogma, they are poetic compositions written in question and answer form between a teacher (one whose search has blossomed into understanding) and a disciple (the seeker).

In Katha Upanishad the father of young Naciketas, sends his son to the abode of Yama, the god of death, as he is unable to deal with his son’s search for truth, and knows all too well that someone other than him will have to answer his child’s questions.
Beyond this outer story, the Upanishad invites us to discover the meaning and secret of life: a Naciketas, the seeker, is hidden in all of us, no matter our age.

Yoga practices on the mat will be complemented by lectures, dialogues and free time to enjoy the many treats Mandali offers.

The total cost of the retreat ranges from €1287 (shared accommodation) to €1867 (premium single room).

The retreat will be conducted in English
